Choose PlanPlans cover solar systems from any installer and any brand. Replacement parts, if needed, are quoted separately before any work starts.
An AMC makes sense when you want predictable cost and someone watching output. Per-visit work suits small systems that are already performing.
| Situation | AMC | Pay per visit |
|---|---|---|
| Dusty area, output dropping | Cleaning scheduled automatically | You have to notice and call |
| Inverter fault | Priority visit, labour covered | Queue behind AMC customers |
| Generation review | Monthly report included | Not included |
| Cost profile | Fixed, known in advance | Variable, higher per visit |
| Best for | Systems over 3 kW with AMC history | Small, healthy systems |
These ranges cover a standard RCC rooftop with Tier-1 panels, a string inverter, galvanised structure, protection and net-metering paperwork. Batteries are not included.
| Size | Typical cost | Subsidy (homes) | Rough payback |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 kW | ₹1,45,000 – ₹1,85,000 | ₹78,000 | 4–5 years |
| 5 kW | ₹2,30,000 – ₹2,90,000 | ₹78,000 | 4–5 years |
| 10 kW | ₹4,40,000 – ₹5,60,000 | ₹78,000 | 4–6 years |
| 20 kW | ₹8,40,000 – ₹10,60,000 | Commercial only | 3–4 years |
| 50 kW | ₹20,00,000 – ₹25,00,000 | Commercial only | 3–4 years |
| 100 kW | ₹38,00,000 – ₹47,00,000 | Commercial only | 3–4 years |
Understanding the quote
Two quotes for the same 5 kW can differ by lakhs without either being dishonest. These six factors explain almost all of the gap, so you can compare proposals on equal terms.
Ask each vendor to name the panel make and model, the inverter model, the structure material and the warranty length. A quote that omits any of them cannot be compared.
The largest single factor. Cost per kW falls as systems get bigger, because structure, cabling and labour are shared.
Adding backup is the biggest optional cost. A 5 kWh LFP bank typically adds a substantial share to a home project.
Flat RCC is cheapest. Sheet roofs need clamps and checks; elevated or ground mounts add steel and civil work.
Long runs from roof to meter, or a board needing upgrade, add cable, conduit and protection costs.
Panel technology (mono PERC vs TOPCon), inverter brand and warranty length move the price both ways.
Standard net metering is included. Captive status, HT connection or CEIG inspection add engineering time.
Paying for it
The right option depends on how long you plan to stay, whether you are a business, and how much cash you want to keep free.
Pays back fastest and avoids interest entirely. Best if you have the amount and plan to stay in the property.
No interestCollateral-free home loans up to ₹2 lakh are commonly available at around 5.75% p.a. with no processing fee.
5.75% p.a. typicalCommercial and industrial systems are financed through equipment loans or lease structures against the asset.
3–7 year termsFor large commercial roofs, a third party owns the plant and you buy the units at a discounted rate.
No capexSubsidy is credited to your account after commissioning, so plan the cash flow for the full amount up front and treat the subsidy as a later refund.
Avoiding surprises
These are the questions we expect, and the ones that separate a comparable quote from a vague one.
Understanding cost
Rooftop solar is priced mainly by capacity in kW, then adjusted for the equipment and your site. Every quotation is itemised so you can see exactly what you pay for.
Capacity in kW is the biggest factor. We size it from your bill so you don't pay for panels you won't use.
Hybrid and off-grid systems add a battery bank, which raises the cost but keeps power on during cuts.
Elevated or ground-mounted structures cost more than a standard RCC rooftop frame.
Eligible homes get up to ₹78,000 back under PM Surya Ghar, credited to your bank account after commissioning.
