Overview

An off-grid solar system runs completely on its own. Panels charge a battery bank during the day and an inverter supplies power around the clock, with no connection to the utility grid.

It is the right choice for farms, remote homes, telecom sites and anywhere grid power is missing or unreliable.

  • Telecom towers and site offices

How the system works

A power plant with no wires to the outside

An off-grid system is sized around daily energy use rather than a bill. Panels charge a battery bank, and the inverter supplies AC loads around the clock. Because there is no grid to fall back on, both the array and the battery are sized for the worst month, not the average one.

This is what makes off-grid systems robust but larger: a site that uses 8 units a day needs a battery that carries it through a cloudy stretch and panels that refill it quickly.

Array sized for the winter

December irradiation is lower than May, so the array is designed for the weakest month rather than the annual average.

Autonomy days

One to three days of storage keeps pumps and buildings running through cloudy weather.

Load discipline

Inverter-chargers reject excessive loads; we help you choose efficient pumps, lights and fans from the start.

Solar engineer checking rooftop equipment

Before we recommend a system

The design starts with how you use power

Your roof, daily electricity use and need for backup all affect the right configuration. A site assessment helps confirm the system size, equipment and installation plan before work begins.

  • Typical electricity use and daytime demand
  • Roof space, orientation, shade and mounting needs
  • Grid availability and whether battery backup is required

Why choose Off Grid solar

Total independence

No electricity bills and no dependence on the grid.

Power anywhere

Reliable electricity for farms, pumps and remote buildings.

Sized for autonomy

Battery banks designed to carry you through cloudy days.

Remote support

System alerts and support so issues are caught early.

What an off-grid installation includes

Every item is chosen for service in locations where a technician may not be nearby.

What drives off-grid cost

Battery autonomy

Each extra day of storage adds cost directly. Two days is enough for most sites in Madhya Pradesh.

Pump and motor loads

Motors draw a large starting current, so the inverter is sized for the surge as well as the running load.

No net metering

There is nothing to export to. Spare daytime generation has to go into storage or a productive load.

Generator backup

A generation set as a winter safety net is often cheaper than doubling the battery bank.

Typical off-grid applications

Sizing depends on daily consumption and pumping head, so these are starting points, not fixed sizes.

ApplicationTypical sizeDaily output
Farmhouse, lights and fans3–5 kW8–12 units
Borewell irrigation pump3–7.5 HP pump setMatches the pump's duty cycle
Dairy or poultry shed5–10 kW15–30 units
Remote site office2–5 kW6–12 units

Looking after a standalone plant

A small plant still needs a routine

Because there is no grid to mask a fault, small problems show up quickly. A quarterly visit keeps the battery bank healthy and the panels clean.

Panel cleaning

Ground-mounted arrays collect dust and crop debris. Cleaning before summer and after harvest protects output.

Battery care

Cell balance checks, terminal torque and equalisation for lead-acid banks at set intervals.

Cable and earth checks

Rodent damage, loose lugs and earthing resistance are the usual causes of sudden failures on rural sites.

How it works

From first call to switch-on

The design starts with an energy audit, because there is no grid to absorb a miscalculation.

  1. 01

    Site visit and load audit

Every appliance, light and pump is recorded with its wattage and hours of use.

    1–2 hours on site
  2. 02

    Autonomy decision

You choose how many cloudy days the battery should cover; that sets the storage size.

    Discussion during survey
  3. 03

    Design and quote

Array, battery, controller and inverter are sized together and quoted item by item.

    3–5 working days
  4. 04

    Structure and installation

Ground mount or roof rails are fixed, wired and protected against the weather.

    3–7 days
  5. 05

    Load testing

We run the loads you intend to use and measure battery draw over a full day.

    At commissioning
  6. 06

    Remote monitoring and service

Alerts and scheduled visits where the site can be reached.

    Ongoing

If a generator is possible, tell us early: a small generator often saves more money than a larger battery bank.

Choosing between system types

When off-grid is the right answer

Off-grid is a practical choice when the grid is far away or unreliable, and a financial one when extending a line would cost more than the plant.

Choose off-grid if

There is no grid, or the line would cost more than the solar plant itself.

Choose hybrid if

The grid exists and works most of the day but fails now and then.

Stay on-grid if

The grid is reliable and net metering is available; batteries are then a want, not a need.
