Choosing a system

On-grid, hybrid or off-grid?

The right system depends on how often your power goes out and whether you can connect to the grid. Most homes and offices in cities choose on-grid; areas with frequent cuts choose hybrid.

On-grid

Connected to the electricity grid through a net meter. Lowest cost and the fastest payback, but it switches off in a power cut for safety.

Hybrid

Grid-connected with a battery bank. You still earn net-metering credits, and essential loads keep running when the grid goes down.

Off-grid

Runs fully on panels and batteries with no grid connection. Best for farms and remote sites; the battery makes it the costliest option.

How to pick the right service

Most people arrive knowing they want solar but not which service applies. These four questions narrow it down quickly.

  1. 01

Is there a working grid connection?

If yes, on-grid or hybrid applies. If there is no grid at all, off-grid is the only option.

    Decides the family of system
  2. 02

Do you need power during cuts?

If outages must not interrupt anything, choose hybrid. If they are rare and short, on-grid is cheaper and pays back faster.

    Decides whether you need batteries
  3. 03

What kind of property is it?

Homes and villas sit in the 3–15 kW band. Shops and offices suit 20–50 kW. Factories and warehouses start at 100 kW.

    Decides the size band
  4. 04

    Who maintains it afterwards?

Any system needs cleaning and inspection. An AMC plan is separate from installation and can start at any time, even on an existing system.

    Decides ongoing cost

If you are between two options, ask for both in one quotation. Comparing like-for-like numbers is far easier than comparing two conversations.
